1. Donation of eggs
It is used in cases when the ovaries do not produce their own eggs (in case of impaired function, malformations, premature aging or due to old age), and also in cases of repeated unsuccessful attempts at artificial insemination with poor embryo quality. Donation of eggs is also used at the risk of transferring hereditary diseases.
Under the law of Ukraine, the donor must be under the age of 35 and have good physical and mental health. We do not use donors who have a history of cancer, heart disease, kidney disease, hereditary diseases and sexually transmitted diseases, mental illness, alcoholism, drug use.
The donor program is anonymous. According to the law, the family using the donor eggs can not see the donor’s photos, but is only informed about the following donor parameters: height, weight, hair and eye color, nationality, education, family and children, blood type and Rh factor.
Age of the recipient (women for whom donor eggs are used) is limited to 50 years. No information about the recipient is given to the donor. This is protected by the law on artificial insemination and protection of the embryo.
2. Sperm donation
It is used in cases when the sperm of the husband does not contain spermatozoa, or is very poor in quality, and also at the risk of transferring hereditary diseases.
The age of donors is limited to 40 years. The selection of donors is carried out on the basis of international rules, with the exception of the risk of transferring the diseases of the mother.
Sperm donation is anonymous and the recipient can obtain information about donor parameters by analogy with egg donation.
After all the research, donor sperm is frozen and kept in quarantine for 6 months. After this period, the donor’s studies are repeated and if the donor’s tests are in order, the sperm can be used.
3. Donation of embryos
It is used in cases when it is impossible to use own embryos, for example, due to age, or hereditary diseases. Embryos, as a rule, donate couples who have fertilized and they already have enough children.
